How to Stop Global Warming

Too Cute and Carbon Intensive to Eat

I love Vegetarians and Vegans. God bless them; I admire their respect toward all living beings and their commitment to “ahimsa” (Non-Violence in Yogic terms). I tried to go Vegetarian many times in my life and even went vegan for six months. I always crashed because quite frankly, I am a huge foodie. I just can’t say no to food. SO, I do feel a twinge of guilt for being a meat eater. Raising cattles for meat consumption is very carbon intensive and it’s true, emits lots of methane. Not very Eco-friendly; and most vegetarians stress this issue. Some even say that going vegetarian is a MUST to stop Global Warming.

I get nervous when someone says you “MUST” do anything. I think there are millions of way to stop Global Warming.. it’s up to you personally to decide what matters or not depending on your lifestyle and what you can actually accomplish on a consistent basis. I think consitency and genuine belief that what you are doing IS benefitting the Environment will have a higer success rate of becoming integrated into one’s life rather than some passing fad that is given up easily.

Like  the New Year Resolution; It’s something we set ourselves up for but most of the time. It fails, because you are forcing yourself to do something perhaps that’s not within your reach at the moment. I think it’s better to take stock of things you can and “willing” to do now; not what you aspire to be. Of course, there’s something to be said for aspiration but takes many tiny steps to get there. Not a huge freaking leap.
