As a blog community project created by BlogCatalog, we are creating a mass buzz to help public schools in need.
Here’s the site you can go to donate or to learn more about it.
Help Public School Kids by Funding by Participating in a DonorsChoose Challenge.
The purpose of the BlogCatalog Community Fundraising Event is to come together and raise money for our public schools. We have set the goal to $25,000. Hopefully we can blow this goal away and raise far more money. If we do we will have set a precedent that will enable our community to do a bunch of good for other causes in the future.
The BlogCatalog Community project is funded by DonorsChoose.Org which enables us to give resources to teachers who need funds that is not covered in the school budget. In their own words, “It’s a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. At this not-for-profit web site, teachers submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn.” The projects are carefully screened to make sure that the donations are utilized properly.
So dear readers, I am asking you to donate to this great cause. If you can not for any reason; just pass this along to friends. The bigger the buzz… greater the outcome. The donations are tax deductible and you will great a note of appreciation from the students as well as the teacher’s impact letter. You will also get an expenditure report so you know where your kind generosity was spent.
Please spread the word about this good cause and give back to the community. Jolly Green Girl sincerely thanks you for taking part any way you can.

I will gladly raise attention in my town. I used to teach. I remember needing just 1 sheet of bright orange construction paper during the fall holidays. When I asked for that one piece I got reminded very sternly that another teacher laid claim on that piece, and sorry. I was stunned. So from that point on, I started buying my own supplies.

I am really sorry to hear that Zephyr. I think teaching is a noble job and shouldn’t have to deal with lack of funds.
