According to Tree Hugger, one of the leading online resources for the Eco-friendly living, United States consumers spent close to $40 billion on their lawns and gardens, and it is steadily increasing. (Jolly Green Girl is aware how dedicated some green thumbs are about their lawns ) Most of the plant food are made with synthetic chemicals that are very harmful not only to the environment but also to your family.

With TerraCycle Plant Food, there’s a way to maintain your beautiful and lush garden without sacrificing the Environment. TerraCycle was initially a science project created by two Princeton University students dubbed “The Worm Project”. Tom Szaky continued the project after he left school and TerraCycle was founded in 2001.

  • To make TerraCycle Plant Food, organic waste is fed to millions of earthworms which transform the waste into worm poop. The worm poop is liquefied and bottled in used soda bottles. Everything, from start to finish, is made from recycled materials.
  • And the best part? The soda bottles are collected by by thousands of elementary students from across North America. So not only is it Eco-friendly, it educates children about the importance of preserving the Environment and caring for it. The students are also encouraged to visit the site in New Jersey so they can see for themselves where their hard earned bottles went towards. What an amazing program.

Visit the TerraCycle Website to learn more about this incredible project that is at the core of Eco-friendly Consumerism. You can also sign up for a free website if you are a garden thumb enthusiast. Also visit Tree Hugger. They have a wealth of information on anything Eco-friendly.

OK… this is about blogging…

On another note, I have decided to participate in Viralink (blog promotion)… at first I was hesitant to join because it doesn’t have much to do with the Environment, but I do need to promote the Jolly Green Girl movement. If you are a blogger, this might help you increase your authority with Technorati. So join in… Everyone I know who have participated have had success with it and so I am giving it a try.
