So I am not Irish.. but EC is half Irish and in honor of St. Paddy’s Day (The quintessential Green Day) that’s coming up.. I decided to do another round of Eco-friendly Link Loves.. Also my inbox has lots of Green sites that should get some attention.
Lets Go Green: Sometimes I get an email asking me how someone should start living a green life. Well, I say try out this site because it has all the practical yet Eco-friendly things for every room in your house. From CFL’s to Water Conservation Products.. I think that this could be your green home depot.
Soles United: Have an old crocs (those funky looking clogs) you want to get rid of? not-for-profit that recycles used shoes and distributes them worldwide to people in need! It’s a great way to do something useful with your old worn out shoes you would otherwise throw away. To date they have donated over 1 million pairs of shoes. In 2008, the goal is to donate 2 million pairs of recycled shoes to those in need.
Eco-Tobi: For those who are fashion conscious as well as Eco-conscious.. This site is for you. With an entire specialty section dedicated to products with environmental agendas, Eco-Tobi is giving a voice to designers that are passionate about supporting sustainability and worthy causes. Mmmm.. this site is definitely being bookmarked as we speak.
Elemental Silver: Fair Trade and Eco-friendly Silver Jewelry handmade by artisans. 10% of their profits go to causes they are passionate about. Currently it’s the Elephant Refuge. My friend, Rachel, would love that. Her dream is to rescue circus Elephants one day.

Those are great resources, particularly the jewelry site. I wouldn’t have even though of being “green” while shopping for silver, but this is perfect! I really like their simple, earthy style. I’d seriously consider them as a wedding ring possibility if they had any plain bands for sale…and if I hadn’t been told a million times that silver just doesn’t stand the test of time.

Thanks for the mention of our site www.elementalsilver.com! We work directly with Thai artisans and visit a few times a year with them. You mentioned the Elephant Camp work which is great, we have been donating since November 2007 and probably will continue for a while. Our owner wrote a very nice article about his visit last month if you’d like to know more, you can read it here - http://blog.elementalsilver.com/2008/01/28/one-elephant-at-a-time/

Liz,
have you looked into http://www.greenkarat.com?
They specialize in Eco-friendly engagement rings and use recycled gold. It’s a bit crunchy granola for me but might be right up your alley. As for me, I decided to go with a vintage ring. I found a great one on http://www.rubylane.com/ that was absolutely stunning and affordable. Check them out if also. Good luck!!!
Jonathan, my pleasure
and thanks for stopping by and saving the elephants. Magnificant creatures they are.
