This is the Leaping Bunny Logo. An essential when it comes to cruelty free shopping.
Look for this logo on the products you buy and you will be sure that no animal has been harmed for your benefit. What a peace of mind that is!!!
Today’s topic is something that is very close to my heart. Being an animal lover and also a pet owner. I can’t imagine what these animals go through as they are being tortured in the name of science. I am talking about Animal Testing.
Here’s what Caring Consumer had to say
Hundreds of thousands of these animals are poisoned, blinded, and killed every year in outdated product tests for cosmetics, personal care products, household cleaning products, and even have banned all animal tests forever, still force substances into animals’ stomachs and drip chemicals into rabbits’ eyes. These tests are not required by law, and they often produce inaccurate or misleading results—even if a product has blinded an animal, it can still be marketed to you
There have been some argument that animal testing is to benefit humanity as a whole and it’s a necessary evil to gain medicine and products that we humans use. But science (that same Science which uses inhumane methods in the name of research) have reached the point, where other methods are widely available. Methods that some company do not use because perhaps of cost and just plain disregard for an animal’s well being.Ironically, according to the Stop Animal Testing group. It actually costs less for alternative way of testing than using animals. There is no reason why companies such as Johnson and Johnson and Proctor Gamble which is the worst company to use this cruel method.
Cruelty Free Companies A-Z
The following companies (USA and international) have agreed to obey a new stricter standard of “not tested on animals.” This new standard was established by a coalition of nine animal protection organizations to guarantee that products are, in fact, not tested on animals (either by the product manufacturer or any associated contract testing labs). by CCIC

The Jolly Green Girl tip is look for the labels in the back. If it has a logo “NO ANIMAL TESTING’ It is going in the cart. If not, back to the shelf. It only takes couple seconds more and you become a more aware shopper (You won’t mindlessly put things in the cart) You can also click here to order a pocket size guide which will list the cruelty free companies. The JGG had to give up some of her favorite products but she thinks it’s worth it to save an animal’s life.
Tomorrow is a focus on a company called Method.
JGG would like to thank these companies in help with writing this article

hello.
i’m just wondering why you say to boycott Ecover, when not only are their products cruelty free, but also their whole ethos and production from start to finish is very progressively environmentally friendly? In fact they are one of the best companies I know about.

Hi Anna, yes, I am sorry. I looked it up on PETA and they are in fact on the list. I will correct it. Thanks for the heads up.

hi—i think the body shop is one of the first adopters of the cruelty free cosmetics model, you have it under the boycott section, can you check this? btw: like your blog.

Hello, Thanks for the heads up on the companies that made it on the boycott list that shouldn’t have. I have made the correction. I am not sure how they got on there but also realize that even sometimes when the company claim to be cruelty free, they are not because they didn’t pass the PETA inspection. The best way to know is to check the LeapingBunny.org or the PETA’s list. They have a pdf you can download.
